As of 1 April 2010, the Panmure firm of Millers has merged with DG Law who are located across the road in Panmure.
The face behind Millers is Philip Miller, a very experienced practitioner who has practised in Panmure since 1977. Philip hails from a strong family of lawyers.Philips grandfather, the late CFC (Fred) Miller, practised in the Bay of Islands (Kawakawa) during the 1920s and 1930s. He was involved in the documentation of the gifting of the Treaty Grounds to the nation from Lord Bledisloe.
Philips late father was Peter Alan Miller.Peter Miller worked for Russell McVeagh for 22 years and was a partner there when he retired in 1985.
Philips late brother, Fred Miller practised law for 26 years. Fred was a well known Panmure general practitioner, who assisted Auckland practitioners with being on the Friends Panel. In fact the late Fred Miller was Christine Ding's mentor when she commenced private practice in 1993. Christine remembers him as an extremely effective, illustrious and well respected lawyer who was extremely passionate in representing his clients, no matter be it at the office or in the courtroom.
Philip's aunt, the late Jocelyn Gregory, was one of the earliest female law graduates in New Zealand, although she did not work as a practitioner.
Philip practices in most areas of the law with a particular interest in family and litigation. Philip has brought with him Peter Chan, a Singaporean lawyer and Joanna Raybould. Peter specialises in family law and legal aid work. Jo has joined the word processing staff.
Outside the office, Philip enjoys spectator sports, travel and movies. Philip is a proud father to Holly who is working for the BBC and Tim who is working for Hamburg Sud as a ship planner.
Peter's favourite activity is fly fishing. He came 7th in the last National Fly Fishing Championships. He is also an avid traveller.
David Graham and Christine Ding believe that by merging Millers into the firm, that there are desirable synergies for the firm and for their clients. It has increased its services with the availability of more practitioners and enhanced the firm with a wider range of legal skills and resources. In particular, DG Law has now resumed providing legal aid work to clients, which it had relinquished in the past.
